The Double Nickel Bass Club fished on Tuesday morning with everyone keeping an eye on the weather, which really didn't interfere with the tournament. There were 15 boats that showed up to compete for bragging rights and a cash pot. The river was coming down, but anglers were still fighting an incoming tide that kept the water high. In the end, it was Guy Stegall who came in first place with 10.10 pounds. Stegall also won the big bass pot with a 3.92-pound fish. Ralph Dunn claimed second place with 5.88 pounds. Ralph Williams took third place with 4.20 pounds.
The Double Nickel Bass Club will hold its final tournament before the classic at the East Pearl River on June 3. The club is for those who are above the age of 55. For more information, please call Dwain Crumby at 985-502-6006.
